Get Ready to "Raise
the Roof" at Project Place's Second Annual Gospel Brunch
Put your hands together and join us for Project Place's Second
Annual Gospel Brunch which will be held on Sunday, February
13, 2005. Over 200 attendees at last year's Gospel Brunch
were inspired by the sounds of extraordinary Gospel performers
who donated their talents to create a fantastic musical experience
to benefit Project Place. And the silent auction and raffle
...what can we say! Bidders were offered an exciting selection
of items including lunch with the Mayor at a local eatery
and week-long stays in beautiful Sanibel Island and Mattapoisett,
MA.

Sponsors of last year's event included 7-Eleven
as the lead sponsor, the South
End Business Alliance, Mt. Washington Bank, Gibson Domain
Domain, Mary Kelleher and Ken
Smith. We also were honored to have Mayor
Thomas Menino as our honorary guest and David
Brown from WCVB-TV as the event's host. The morning
was a truly uplifting and inspirational gathering for all,
and we are looking forward to an even bigger and better event
this year...
So mark Sunday, February 13th
down on your calendar - you won't want to miss it!
Many thanks to all of our generous silent auction & raffle
donors!

A Few of
Our Stellar Supporters...
All in attendance
at Project Place's End of the Year Celebration were captivated
by the wise and thoughtful words of State Representative Byron
Rushing (below) who graciously served as the event's guest
speaker. This celebration has become a wonderful tradition
at Project Place as staff, clients, friends and family come
together to enjoy a great barbeque lunch and recognize all
of the hard work that has taken place over the past
year.

The computer lab has become an indespensible component
of our programming - last year we saw over 200 individuals
received computer training at Project Place, either through
structured class time and/or during drop-in hours. |
Project Place is celebrating the implementation of our new
computer system, made possible through the generosity of The
Rowe Family Charitable Trust, John Hancock
and The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust. Our previous
system was comprised of refurbished computers that were prone
to frequent break-downs. We now have state of the art equipment
- 18 new staff computers, 12 new pcs in our computer lab (shown
above right), a new server, two new printers, updated software
... and a host of happy students!

Yet Another
Great Year for Project Place's Annual Golf Tournament!
The weather was perfect, spirits were high, and golfers were
in top form on July 21,2004 at our Sixth Annual Charity Golf
Tournament. Held at the beautiful Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth,
MA, participants enjoyed a day full of activities and great
giveaways. The Patriot Cheerleaders were on hand, rooting
for players and selling raffle tickets. Celebrity guests included
Jimmy Young, New England Cable News; Paul Stewart, retired
NHL referee; Jeff Norton, former NHL player; Joe Morgan, former
Boston Red Sox Manager; and Bob Montgomery, former Red Sox
player. When the golf day ended players returned to the club
house where people relaxed, swapped golf stories, and placed
bids on some awesome silent auction items, including a luxury
box at the Fleet Center for 10, football autographed by Tom
Brady, and a spa package. The awards ceremony and raffle drawing
brought the day to a close and over $70,000 was raised for
Project Place programs!

Coming soon to a neighborhood near you...
Next time you are walking down Boylston Street keep an eye
out for the guys in the blue jerseys - Clean
Corners... Bright Hopes, one of Project Place's three
small business enterprises, has added this location to their
growing list of neighborhoods and business districts around
the city of Boston where location to their growing list of
neighborhoods and business districts around the city of Boston
where they provide supplemental maintenance and cleaning services.
Other new Clean Corners sites include Columbus Avenue and
the Theatre District, and during the DNC, Clean Corners...
Bright Hopes took part in the democratic process by cleaning
the sidewalks of Newbury Street.
We are very pleased about the continued expansion of this
program for a number of reasonsÑnot only does it increase
the program's visibility around the city, but it has enabled
us to increase the number of homeless individuals we are able
to employ from 10 to 16, and we recently were able to promote
two Clean Corners client employees into permanent supervisory
positions. If you would like more information about this highly
successful program please contact Frank Woods, Director of
Finance and Social Enterprise at (617) 542-3740 extension
11.
